In a significant display of India's growing maritime power, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the top naval commanders onboard aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday. The event took place amidst China's increasing military assertiveness in the Indian Ocean region.

In his address to the commanders, Singh emphasized the importance of jointness and synergy among the armed forces in the ever-changing geopolitical scenario.
Lauding the Navy's Role
Singh commended the Navy for its continuous emergence in a leadership role in the Indian Ocean region, with its increasing multi-dimensional capabilities. He highlighted the Navy's vital role in maritime security and maintaining India's sovereignty. He urged the commanders to remain prepared to face any challenges and assured them of the government's full support.
Addressing Global Concerns
The wargame in the Arabian Sea also occurred against the backdrop of global concerns over Houthi militants targeting cargo ships in the Red Sea and adjoining areas. Deliberations on Crucial Issues
The naval commanders are expected to deliberate on several critical issues during the conference, including China's growing military presence in the Indian Ocean and the situation arising from Houthi attacks on cargo vessels in the Red Sea. The conference, held in a hybrid format, will facilitate discussions on boosting tri-services convergence and addressing important security issues at the military-strategic level.
Shaping the Future of the Indian Navy
The Naval Commanders Conference serves as a platform for naval commanders to engage with senior government functionaries and discuss a wide range of issues. Held against the backdrop of evolving geopolitical dynamics, regional challenges, and the volatile maritime security situation, the conference plays a pivotal role in shaping the future course of the Indian Navy.
