Rajasthan's Districts Reach 50: An Overview Of The Recent Expansion

The Rajasthan government announced that it would be creating 19 new districts in the state. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. The new districts would be carved out of existing districts, and the process of creating them would be completed by August 2023.

The creation of the new districts was motivated by a number of factors. First, the state's population has been growing rapidly in recent years, and the existing districts were becoming too large to be effectively administered. Second, the government wanted to improve access to government services for people living in remote areas of the state. Third, the government wanted to create new opportunities for economic development in the state.

The 19 new districts were created in the following areas:

  • Ajmer division: Anupgarh, Balotra, Beawar
  • Bharatpur division: Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman
  • Jaipur division: Gangapur City, Jaipur Rural, Kekri, Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal, Neem Ka Thana
  • Jodhpur division: Jodhpur Rural, Phalodi, Salumbar, Sanchore, Shahpura
  • Pali division: Dudu
  • Sikar division: Jhunjhunu

The creation of the new districts was welcomed by many people in Rajasthan. However, there were also some concerns that the new districts would not be adequately funded by the government. The government has pledged to provide adequate funding for the new districts, but it remains to be seen whether this will be the case.

The creation of the new districts is a significant development for Rajasthan. It will have a major impact on the lives of people living in the state, and it will also have a significant impact on the state's economy. It is too early to say what the long-term implications of the creation of the new districts will be, but it is clear that this is a major event in Rajasthan's history.

In addition to the 19 new districts, the Rajasthan government also announced that it would be creating three new divisions in the state. The new divisions would be Pali, Sikar, and Banswara. The creation of the new divisions is intended to improve the efficiency of the state government's administration.
