Rajasthan School Collapse: 7 Children Dead During Morning Prayer at Jhalawar's Piplodi Primary School
At least seven children were killed and 29 others injured after the roof of a government school collapsed in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district on Friday morning. The tragic incident took place at the Government Upper Primary School in Piplodi village, located under the Manohar police station limits.
Reports suggest that around 60 students were inside the classroom when the roof suddenly gave way. It is feared that nearly 25 students were trapped under the debris, prompting a massive rescue operation.
Local residents quickly rushed to the scene to offer assistance following the collapse. A crowd gathered as people began efforts to rescue the children trapped beneath the rubble. The scene resembled a disaster site with the school building appearing almost like ruins.

Around 35 children were inside the building when the roof of a school in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district suddenly collapsed, officials confirmed. As cries for help rang out across the compound, teachers and local villagers rushed in, pulling trapped students from the rubble. Emergency teams arrived shortly after and shifted the injured to the Manohar Thana Community Health Centre for urgent treatment.
Top district officials, including Collector and SP Amit Kumar Budania, reached the site promptly to supervise the rescue and relief work.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident, writing on X (formerly Twitter): "The mishap at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is tragic and deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the affected students and their families in this difficult hour. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also shared his condolences: "Saddened by the tragic accident at a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. The loss of young innocent lives is beyond words. My deepest condolences to the grieving families. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured."
High-Level Probe Ordered
Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar called the incident "very unfortunate" and assured that a high-level inquiry will be launched to determine the cause of the collapse.
"The roof collapse in Piplodi village is deeply distressing. I've directed the district collector and education department to ensure the best treatment for the injured. Officials are already on the ground."
He also confirmed that support measures are being taken for affected families and that the structural safety of other schools in the region is being reviewed to prevent similar tragedies.
