Rajasthan Renames 3 Cities: CM Bhajanlal Sharma Announces Mount Abu to Be Called Abu Raj

In a major announcement that has generated statewide attention, Bhajanlal Sharma informed the Assembly that three prominent towns in Rajasthan will soon be known by new names. The declaration, made during a legislative session in Jaipur, immediately sparked debate among political leaders, historians, and local residents.

According to the Chief Minister, the well-known hill retreat Mount Abu will be renamed Abu Raj. The scenic destination, Rajasthan's only hill station and a popular tourist draw, has long been associated with heritage, pilgrimage, and natural beauty. The proposed name change is being positioned as an effort to better reflect regional identity and cultural roots.

In addition, Jahazpur will be rechristened Yagyapur. The town, known for its historical forts and temples, holds importance in the state's cultural narrative. Meanwhile, Kama will now be called Kamvan, a name that many believe carries religious and traditional significance.

While the government has not yet outlined the administrative timeline for implementing the changes, officials indicated that the necessary legal and procedural steps will be initiated soon.
