Rajasthan Assembly Elections Polling Date Postponed To November 25
In a significant development, the Election Commission of India has decided to revise the polling date for the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly election. The new date set for casting votes in the state is now November 25, 2023. The counting of votes will take place on December 3. The term of the current Rajasthan Assembly ends on January 2, 2024.
The revision of the polling date has come as a surprise to many, as the EC had announced the original date on November 23, 2023. However, the ECI has said that the decision to postpone the elections was taken in the best interests of the people of Rajasthan.

The Rajasthan Assembly elections are expected to be a close contest between the ruling Congress party and the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress party is seeking a re-election, while the BJP is hoping to return to power in the state after a five-year gap.
The Rajasthan Assembly elections are also being seen as a precursor to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Both the Congress party and the BJP are eager to win the Rajasthan elections, as a victory would give them a boost ahead of the general elections.
The Rajasthan Assembly has 200 constituencies up for grabs. The state has traditionally been dominated by the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since its formation. Congress won the last elections in 2018, securing 101 seats.
