Rajasthan Congress President Calls for JPC Investigation into Serious Bribery Allegations Against Adani Group
Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra has called for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate allegations against industrialist Gautam Adani. US prosecutors have accused Adani of being involved in a scheme to bribe Indian officials with approximately Rs 2,200 crore for favourable solar power contract terms. The Adani Group has strongly denied these accusations.

Dotasra, along with Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, addressed the media regarding these allegations. Dotasra emphasised the need for a thorough investigation by the JPC, citing credible evidence supporting the bribery claims. He questioned why opposition leaders face arrest over smaller sums while those close to the Prime Minister remain free despite larger allegations.
Allegations and Political Reactions
The Congress party has demanded an investigation into these serious bribery allegations. Dotasra argued that if the BJP accuses opposition-ruled states and Jammu and Kashmir of involvement, it indirectly admits Adani's alleged bribery. He questioned whether this does not constitute a crime.
Dotasra criticised the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that Adani's business thrives under their protection. He insisted that guilty officials and leaders should be apprehended and jailed. The Congress party is pressing for accountability and justice in this matter.
Demands for Accountability
The Congress leader highlighted perceived injustices, questioning why opposition chief ministers are arrested over smaller allegations while those close to the Prime Minister face no consequences despite larger accusations. He described this as unfair to the nation.
"Adani ji has connivance with the central government and the country's Prime Minister Modi ji. Adani ji's business, which is flourishing illegally, is under the protection of the country's prime minister. Therefore, the Congress party demands that they be investigated. Such guilty officers and leaders should be caught and sent to jail," Dotasra stated.
The call for a JPC probe reflects growing political tensions over these allegations. The demand underscores concerns about transparency and accountability within India's political landscape.
