In a dramatic turn of events, Jaipur Police successfully rescued Anuj, a man who had been kidnapped and held hostage in Himachal Pradesh, reuniting him with his family on his birthday.

Anuj was discovered in a hotel room in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. His rescue was captured in a now-viral video showing Jaipur Police officers bursting through the door. "Anuj, get up son... this is Jaipur Police. Relax, we are here for you," the officers announced, transforming a potential tragedy into a miraculous rescue.

The Kidnapping and Ransom Demand

On August 18, Anuj had visited Nahargarh Hill in Jaipur with a friend. The kidnappers, noticing Anuj's well-dressed appearance, assumed he was from a wealthy family, according to Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph. They gagged him and kidnapped in a vehicle while assaulting his friend and abandoning him by the roadside before fleeing.

The Brahmpuri police in Jaipur responded to the incident but were unable to locate Anuj despite deploying a drone. Suspecting an abduction, they formed several teams to investigate.

Tracing the Kidnappers

The kidnappers contacted Anuj's family, demanding a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. The family asked for more time to arrange the money while the police traced the phone number used by the kidnappers. The criminals frequently changed locations to avoid capture and eventually directed the family to drop the ransom money on the last carriage of the Kalka-Shimla Express train.

Police teams were strategically placed along the train's route. When instructed to drop a bag of money near Dharampur railway station, one of the kidnappers was apprehended. This arrest led to the capture of additional accomplices involved in the crime.

The Mastermind Behind the Kidnapping

The arrested individuals include Virendra Singh, Vinod Singh, Amit Kumar, Jitendra Bhandari, and Jamuna Sarkar. Virendra Singh, identified as the mastermind, was a software engineer with business experience. Facing financial difficulties, he used his technical expertise to orchestrate the crime with old acquaintances Amit Kumar and Vinod Singh. His live-in partner, Jamuna Sarkar, also participated in the ransom plan, assisted by Jitendra Bhandari and another friend during the abduction on August 18.

The Rescue Operation

In the end, the police ultimately located Anuj at a hotel even as a kidnapper was found asleep in the room.
