Estranged Brother-In-Law Arrested in Railway Gateman's Murder Case: Raigad Police

55-year-old railway gateman Chandrakant Kamble was shot dead near the Tise railway gate on August 21. The accused, Vijay Ramesh Shetty, is his deceased sister's husband who had allegedly threatened to kill her brother due to a domestic dispute.

The Raigad police department has recently announced the resolution of a murder case that took place in August, involving the death of Chandrakant Kamble, a 55-year-old railway gateman. The key suspect in this case is Vijay Ramesh Shetty, who happens to be the estranged brother-in-law of the deceased.

Unveiling The Murder Mystery

Railway Gateman Murder Case

The incident occurred near Tise railway gate on August 21. The victim was shot dead and his lifeless body was found by local residents. Surveillance footage from CCTV cameras placed around the area showcased Shetty in Roha at the time of Kamble's murder. Shetty is originally from Kalburgi, located in neighbouring Karnataka but had been residing at Reti Bunder in Belapur, Navi Mumbai.

Following an intensive search operation based on mobile tracking data, Shetty was apprehended from Akkalkot situated within Solapur district. Further investigation revealed that there had been ongoing domestic issues between Shetty and his wife Vimal – Kamble’s sister – which ultimately led to this tragic event.

A Tale Of Domestic Disputes And Revenge

Vimal had taken refuge with her brother after a fallout with her husband and was seeking a divorce along with financial compensation amounting to Rs 10 lakh from him. According to official reports, this domestic dispute served as a catalyst for deep-seated resentment within Shetty towards Kamble.

In fact, he reportedly held such a grudge against his brother-in-law that he even threatened Vimal about taking her brother's life due to their disagreement over their marital situation. This threat tragically materialized into reality leading to Kamble's untimely demise.

Past Criminal Record

Further investigations also brought to light Shetty’s alleged involvement in four other murder cases dating back to the 1990s. Shockingly, two of those victims were also his brothers-in-law. The police have recovered two country-made guns and live rounds from Shetty's possession, further strengthening their case against him.

In conclusion, Kamble’s murder has been a grim reminder of how domestic disputes can escalate into life-threatening situations. The resolution of this case serves as a testament to the Raigad police department's diligence and commitment towards ensuring justice for victims and maintaining law and order. However, it is crucial that society continues working towards addressing domestic issues through peaceful means rather than resorting to violence.
