Rahul's decision to join NE youth after Modi's condemnation: BJP

Speaking to reporters here, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said the question that needed to be asked is what steps Gandhi has taken to ensure that police respond better in such situations as the Delhi police are effectively under the control of his party's government.
"Rahul Gandhi is entitled to go and meet (the agitating youth from North East) but he needs to explain that the Delhi Pollice are directly under the control of the central government. Why did the police not take proper, effective action to control this kind of attack on many students of the North East?" Prasad said. He said while the boy from Arunachal Pradesh had been killed, two young ladies from Manipur were subjected to physical assault.
"Right in the heart of the capital of India, if a police effectively under the control of the government of India is not controlling rampant execesses and also murder of north-eastern boys and girls, what did Rahul Gandhi do to stem this"? Prasad added. "May be the way Narendra Modi strongly condemned it in his Meerut rally has provoked Rahul Gandhi to take this kind of window dressing," he added.
Rahul Gandhi today joined youth from the Northeast agitating to bring to book those involved in the killing of Nido Tania, a student from Arunachal Pradesh, and promised "very strict action" apart from setting up of a committee to look into the treatment meted out to people from that region.
