Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Hold Final Roadshows in Delhi to Rally Support for Congress Candidates

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, leaders of the Congress party, made a final push to win over voters before the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5. They conducted roadshows in key areas of the capital. Their efforts focused on boosting support for Congress candidates as campaigning came to a close.

Gandhi Siblings Conduct Final Roadshows in Delhi

Priyanka Gandhi led a roadshow in Kasturba Nagar, urging people to vote for Congress candidate Abhishek Dutt. Dutt is contesting against AAP's Ramesh Pehalwan and BJP's Neeraj Basoya. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi campaigned in Kalkaji alongside Congress candidate Alka Lamba.

Congress Campaigns in Key Constituencies

Rahul Gandhi's roadshow took place in Govindpuri, part of the Kalkaji constituency. His aim was to rally support for Lamba, who faces AAP's Atishi and BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri. The Congress party has struggled in Delhi elections over the past decade.

The party, which governed Delhi from 1998 to 2013 under Sheila Dikshit, has not won any seats in the 70-member Assembly since then. The AAP has dominated the capital's politics for two terms. In 2013, Congress formed a short-lived coalition with AAP.

Congress Promises and Election Strategy

In the 2013 election, AAP secured 28 seats while Congress managed only eight. To regain its footing, Congress has announced five guarantees for this election. These include an LPG cylinder priced at Rs 500 and free ration kits.

The party also promises free electricity up to 300 units per household. Under the Pyari Didi Yojana, women would receive Rs 2,500 monthly. Additionally, the Jeevan Raksha Yojana offers free health insurance up to Rs 25 lakh for Delhi residents.

Addressing Economic Concerns

To tackle unemployment and economic issues, Congress pledges Rs 8,500 monthly for a year to educated but jobless youth. This forms part of their broader strategy to address economic instability. The Delhi polls are set for Wednesday with results on February 8.

The Congress hopes these promises will help them break their decade-long absence from the Delhi Assembly. As voting day approaches, all eyes are on whether these efforts will translate into electoral success for the party.
