Rahul Gandhi Uses Humour to Defuse Internal Congress Row, Teases Digvijaya Singh
Rahul Gandhi used humour to respond to a storm inside Congress, teasing senior leader Digvijaya Singh over praise for the BJP and RSS organisation. The swipe came on Sunday during a party foundation day event, just ahead of a key Congress Working Committee meeting.
At the event, the former Congress president turned the internal row into a light moment. Referring to Singh’s recent comments, Rahul Gandhi told the gathering, “you did a mischief”, signalling disapproval while keeping the mood informal for party workers and leaders present.

Rahul Gandhi Digvijaya Singh row and BJP-RSS remarks
The controversy started before the Congress Working Committee met, when Digvijaya Singh posted an old photograph on social media. The image showed Narendra Modi sitting on the floor, with senior BJP leader LK Advani behind on a chair, stressing internal hierarchy and discipline in the rival camp.
Through that post, Digvijaya Singh pointed to the journey of Narendra Modi from RSS worker and party organiser to state chief minister and later prime minister. Singh framed this rise as proof of a strong organisational structure in the BJP and RSS, rather than as ideological support.

Rahul Gandhi Digvijaya Singh row and clarification on RSS stance
The social media post quickly drew criticism inside political circles, creating unease within Congress ranks. Many leaders viewed any praise of BJP or RSS style organisation as harmful, especially when Congress continued to present itself as a strong opponent of their politics.
Facing pressure, Digvijaya Singh later issued a clarification. Singh said the intention was only to recognise organisational strength, not to praise ideology or individual leaders. Singh argued that seeing value in structured organisation should not be treated as an offence in politics.
Digvijaya Singh also referred to experience as Madhya Pradesh chief minister and state Congress president. Singh underlined a preference for decentralised leadership, claiming to empower local workers. Alongside that, Singh restated opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to RSS ideology, stressing that political stance remained unchanged.
Once the Congress Working Committee meeting ended, party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi briefed reporters. Both leaders, however, avoided detailed answers on Digvijaya Singh’s remarks, signalling an attempt to contain the dispute while the organisation dealt with wider strategic questions.
