Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal announced on Twitter that Rahul Gandhi will be visiting his constituency, Wayanad, on August 12-13. Venugopal said that the people of Wayanad are elated that democracy has won and their voice has returned to Parliament. He added that Rahul Gandhi is not just an MP, but a member of their family.

The background of this is that the Supreme Court stayed Rahul Gandhi's conviction in the 'Modi' surname remark case on August 4. This led to the Lok Sabha Secretariat restoring his membership on August 8. Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha in March 2023 after he was convicted in the case.
The Supreme Court's decision to stay Gandhi's conviction was welcomed by the Congress party. Venugopal said that the decision was a victory for truth and justice. He added that it was a setback for the BJP's "vendetta politics".
Gandhi's visit to Wayanad is significant as it will be his first visit to the constituency after he was reinstated as an MP. The people of Wayanad are expected to give him a warm welcome. Gandhi is likely to address a public meeting during his visit.
The visit is also seen as a political move by the Congress party. The party is hoping to capitalise on Gandhi's popularity in Wayanad to boost its chances in the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala.
