Rahul Gandhi To Speak On No-Confidence Motion Today, BJP Calls Him 'Escapist'

On the second day of the no-confidence motion debate against the Narendra Modi government, Rahul Gandhi will address the session, countering the BJP's label of him as an 'escapist' for not initiating the debate himself. Gaurav Gogoi, instead of Rahul Gandhi, opened the debate, a move that prompted criticism from the BJP. Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, confirmed that Rahul Gandhi will present the opposition's viewpoint at noon on Wednesday.

Coinciding with his first public appearance after regaining his Lok Sabha membership, Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to hold a rally in Rajasthan on Wednesday at 3 pm.

The initial plan was for Rahul Gandhi to commence the debate from the opposition's side as announced on the official Congress Twitter handle. However, Gaurav Gogoi, who tabled the no-confidence motion, took the floor to begin the discourse, prompting the Congress to question this change in plan.

During a press conference on Wednesday morning, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad commented that many were looking forward to Rahul Gandhi's speech, considering the Congress' initial announcement that he would be the first speaker.

He humorously referred to Rahul Gandhi as "jana nayak" (people's leader), comparing it to the title given to a historical figure in Bihar.
