Rahul Gandhi Slams PM Modi Over NEET-PG Row, Calls Centre 'Incompetent'

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi slammed the Centre following the postponement of the NEET-PG 2024 examination.

He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being ineffective against issues such as the paper leak racket and education mafia, asserting that the BJP government poses a significant threat to students' futures.

"Now NEET PG is also postponed! This is another unfortunate example of the ruined education system under the rule of Narendra Modi," said Gandhi on X.

He labeled the NDA government as "incompetent."

"Now it is clear - Modi, who used to silently watch the spectacle every time, is completely helpless in front of the paper leak racket and education mafia. Narendra Modi's incompetent government is the biggest threat to the future of students - we must save the future of the country from it," he added.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG), which was initially scheduled to take place on Sunday. The ministry assured that a new date for the examination would be provided soon.

"Taking into consideration, the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of the processes of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by the National Board of Examination for medical students," the ministry's statement read.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), tasked with conducting medical entrance exams, has come under fire due to alleged irregularities in the exam process. In response, the Centre established a high-level committee to propose reforms. This seven-member panel, chaired by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan, aims to improve the examination procedures.

In latest developments, the Centre sacked NTA director general Subodh Singh and assigned the CBI to probe the irregularities in NEET-UG.
