Rahul Gandhi’s Anti-Forces Rhetoric: Undermining India’s Security
In recent months, Rahul Gandhi, former Congress President and a prominent opposition leader, has repeatedly made statements that raise serious questions about his stance towards India's armed forces and security agencies. His rhetoric not only risks diminishing the morale of the brave men and women safeguarding the nation but also fosters division and mistrust among the public.

Questioning the Integrity of Security Forces
Rahul Gandhi has on multiple occasions questioned the integrity and intentions of India's security forces. Rather than supporting the agencies that work tirelessly to protect the country from internal and external threats, his statements appear to politicise their actions. This tendency to cast doubt on the military and paramilitary forces comes at a time when national security is paramount.
His most recent comments were when Congress leader accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of capitulating to United States pressure during last month's military flare-up with Pakistan. Speaking at a party event in Bhopal, Gandhi alleged that the Prime Minister surrendered after a phone call from US President Donald Trump, stating, "Narendra ji followed Trump saying 'Narender, surrender' by saying 'yes, sir'." The Congress party further amplified the remark on social media platform X, where it posted a two-panel cartoon: one panel showed Trump shouting "Narender, surrender" into a phone, while the second depicted Modi replying, "Yes, sir."
This is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has questioned our military's integrity during critical moments. After the Balakot air strikes and surgical strikes post-Uri, he demanded "video proof," undermining the morale of our armed forces. During the deadly Galwan clash, instead of honoring the sacrifice of our soldiers, he chose to politicize the tragedy and cast aspersions on the government's handling of the situation.
Moreover, while Congress repeatedly questions Indian casualties, it conveniently ignores Pakistan's massive losses. These setbacks have crippled Pakistan's terror infrastructure - a fact acknowledged even by neutral observers. Yet, Rahul Gandhi refuses to recognize these strategic gains, raising questions about whether political point-scoring has overtaken national interest in the Congress playbook.
Global Comparisons Highlight the Contrast
In countries facing war, political parties unite behind their armed forces. The Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Israel-Palestine war have seen political consensus despite deep divisions. India deserves the same unity. Unfortunately, Rahul Gandhi and Congress choose to fracture the nation's spirit at a time when solidarity is most needed.
Patriotism Means Support, Not Skepticism
India is a rising power with a military that commands respect worldwide. Our soldiers face grave dangers to protect our borders. Expecting zero casualties is unrealistic; demanding "proof" of success undermines their sacrifices. Rahul Gandhi's narrative damages morale and emboldens enemies.
India's strength lies in unity, not division. In moments that demand collective resolve, our leadership - across parties - must reflect the spirit of the nation. The Modi-led government has consistently shown clarity and strength in confronting threats. It is time the opposition rose to the occasion and acted with the same maturity and national pride.
