Rahul Gandhi Responds To BJP MP Getting Injured In Parliament: 'They Were Pushing, Threatening Me'

Tensions erupted in Parliament on Thursday after BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi sustained injuries during a protest over Union Home Minister Amit Shah's comments on Dr. BR Ambedkar.

Sarangi claimed that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, pushed another MP, causing them to fall onto him.

"I was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed an MP, who then fell on me," Sarangi said, adding that this resulted in him falling as well.

In response, Rahul Gandhi defended his actions, stating that he was at the entrance where BJP MPs were blocking his path. "They were pushing me and threatening me, trying to push me," he said.

This altercation occurred amidst a heated political drama in Parliament, with both BJP and INDIA bloc MPs protesting and attacking each other over the Ambedkar issue.

Acknowledging the incident, Gandhi said that it was his right to enter Parliament and that BJP MPs were trying to prevent him from doing so.

"This might be on your camera. I was trying to go inside through the Parliament entrance, and BJP MPs were trying to stop me, push me, and threaten me. So this happened... Yes, this has happened (Mallikarjun Kharge being pushed). But we do not get affected by jostling. This is the entrance, and we have the right to go in. BJP MPs were trying to stop us from going in... The central issue is that they are attacking the Constitution and insulting the memory of Ambedkar ji," he explained.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju condemned Rahul Gandhi's actions, saying, "Parliament is not a wrestling platform. Rahul Gandhi should not show his strength against MPs."

Meanwhile, the BJP is reviewing footage related to the incident involving Pratap Sarangi to verify the allegations that Rahul Gandhi pushed the BJP MP. If evidence of this is found, the BJP may file an FIR against Gandhi, reported India Today.

After the incident, Rahul Gandhi approached Pratap Sarangi, who was receiving medical attention. As Gandhi neared Sarangi, BJP MPs shouted, "Don't you feel shame? You are engaging in rowdyism." In response, Rahul Gandhi was seen arguing with BJP leaders before leaving the scene.
