Rahul Gandhi Highlights Importance of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for Congress's Path to Power in Delhi
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, emphasised the Congress party's ambition to establish a robust government at the Centre. He highlighted that achieving this goal requires a strong presence in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Addressing party members in Raebareli district, he stated, "The Congress party wants to form a strong coalition government in Delhi...with 200-300 seats. Its path passes through Uttar Pradesh and Bihar."

Gandhi stressed the importance of strengthening the party's influence in these key states to ensure a powerful government in Delhi. He mentioned that their immediate aim is to establish an INDIA alliance government first in Bihar, followed by Uttar Pradesh. He expressed confidence that the BJP would be defeated in the next Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.
Focus on Key States for Political Success
The Rae Bareli MP asserted that wherever their government is formed, whether in Bihar or Uttar Pradesh, it will be by listening to their workers' voices. He believes that the INDIA alliance will lead to significant political changes in these regions. Gandhi's remarks reflect the party's strategy to prioritise grassroots engagement and worker involvement.
During his address, Gandhi also referred to a recent terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. He mentioned that the Congress party fully supported the government's response to this incident. He requested everyone present at the meeting to observe silence as a mark of respect for those affected by the attack.
Criticism of Current Government Policies
In his speech, Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies, alleging favouritism towards billionaires. He remarked, "Whatever the billionaires want in India, Modi ji gets it for them. Adani wants an airport, defence industry, infrastructure, road contract. Whatever they want, he gets it for them...Narendra Modi has made five seven such people." This statement highlights his concerns about economic inequality and perceived preferential treatment.
The meeting concluded with participants observing silence as requested by Gandhi. His comments underscore the Congress party's focus on forming alliances and addressing regional issues to strengthen its position nationally. The emphasis on worker involvement and criticism of current policies reflects their broader political strategy.
