Rahul Gandhi Issues Public Challenge To PM Modi Over US Trade Deal, Says ‘Its Not A Deal But An Arrow’

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a strong attack on the central government on Tuesday.

Speaking at a public meeting in Bhopal, he alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi finalised a trade agreement with the United States without consulting the Union Cabinet.

Addressing party workers and farmers at the Kisan Maha Chaupal, Gandhi claimed that the deal was made in secrecy and would harm the interests of Indian farmers.

"Deal Finalised Without Cabinet Consultation"

During his speech, Rahul Gandhi said the Prime Minister did not take the Cabinet into confidence before finalising the reported trade agreement with the US.

He alleged that the agreement was shaped entirely on American terms and questioned the transparency of the process. According to Gandhi, such major decisions should involve discussion within the government and Parliament.

"This is not a deal, it is an arrow aimed at the hearts of farmers," he said, adding that the government should cancel the agreement if it has the courage.

Concerns Over Impact on Farmers

Gandhi claimed that the trade agreement would negatively affect India's agricultural sector. He said the deal had reportedly been delayed for months because it involved agricultural products and farm-related concerns.

According to him, farmers, farm workers and even some sections within the government were not in favour of the agreement. He suggested that the deal could open Indian agriculture to foreign competition in a way that might hurt local producers.

The Congress leader urged the government to reconsider the agreement and protect domestic interests.

Challenge to the Prime Minister

Rahul Gandhi also issued a public challenge to Prime Minister Modi. Referring to developments in the United States regarding trade-related legal matters, he asked the government to withdraw from the agreement.

He further alleged that sensitive national data had been compromised as part of the deal, though he did not provide specific details during the speech.

Addressing Youth Congress members, Gandhi encouraged them to remain fearless in their political work and continue raising issues related to farmers and youth.

Accusations of Avoiding Accountability

The Congress leader also accused the Prime Minister of avoiding discussion in Parliament during the recent Budget Session. He alleged that the Prime Minister did not adequately respond to opposition questions regarding the trade agreement and other issues.

"National interest has been compromised," Gandhi claimed, adding that such important decisions should be debated openly in the Lok Sabha.

Reference to Epstein Files

In another part of his speech, Rahul Gandhi mentioned the alleged "Epstein files," claiming that the name of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri appeared in related documents. He further alleged that more names of senior leaders could surface.

However, he did not provide evidence during the event to support these claims.

Political Reactions Expected

The allegations are likely to trigger a political debate between the ruling government and the opposition. While the Congress has raised concerns over transparency and farmer interests, the government has not yet responded officially to these specific accusations.
As discussions over trade agreements and agricultural reforms continue, the issue may remain a key talking point in the run-up to future political events and elections.
