Rahul Gandhi Faces Backlashes Over 'China Has Taken Away India's Land' Remarks

Taking a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the statement 'China has taken away India's land', Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi alleged that Gandhi is lying in Kargil.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Kargil on Friday claimed, 'China has taken away India's land'. He further alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is lying by saying that not an inch of land has been taken away by China.

Sudhanshu Trivedi further accused Gandhi of making baseless and absurd comments about China. He further said during the Doklam crisis, Rahul Gandhi had met the Chinese ambassador.

However, Congress never denied Rahul's meeting with the Chinese convoy. But the specific time and place of meeting has never been cleared.

Trivedi further lashed Gandhi by saying that the Congress Government never intended to punish Pakistan's motto of supporting terrorism assuming that this would harm the peace of both the countries.

Rahul Gandhi's remarks on China came after PM Modi's conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Summit 2023 in Johannesburg where both leaders were seen having an informal conversation just before the press conference.

The ties between the two countries came under severe strain after the Indo-China border issues in eastern Ladakh that began in May 2020.

The Indian and Chinese troops are locked in an over three-year confrontation in certain friction points in eastern Ladakh even as the two sides completed disengagement from several areas following extensive diplomatic and military talks.
