Parliament Erupts: Rahul Gandhi, BJP Clash Over Allegations, Injuries And High-Stakes Drama
A heated political clash unfolded in Parliament as Rahul Gandhi, a prominent opposition leader, levelled serious allegations against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Gandhi accused BJP MPs of barring opposition members from entering the Parliament complex, describing their actions as disrespectful to the legacy of Dr. BR Ambedkar. He demanded the resignation of the Union Home Minister, alleging a dismissive stance towards opposition calls for accountability.

Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations
Addressing the media, Gandhi denounced the BJP's actions as an affront to Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals and called for Union Home Minister Amit Shah to step down. Gandhi underscored the growing rift in Parliament, asserting that the BJP’s conduct was obstructing democratic processes.
BJP's Counterattack
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan fired back, criticizing Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for not apologizing for their alleged misconduct. Speaking to the press, Chouhan accused Gandhi of provoking physical confrontations by ignoring security advisories to avoid certain entrances where BJP members were protesting.
Chouhan went further, likening Gandhi’s behaviour to that of a "goon" and alleged that his actions resulted in injuries to BJP MP Pratap Sarangi, who was admitted to intensive care. Chouhan called for an end to physical altercations in Parliament, stressing the need for logical discourse in resolving disputes.
MPs Injured Amid the Scuffle
The altercation reportedly left two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi from Odisha and Mukesh Rajput from Uttar Pradesh, with head injuries. Both were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi for treatment. Dr. Ajay Shukla, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, confirmed their condition as stable.
Adding to the controversy, Nagaland MP Phangnon Konyak accused Gandhi of threatening and pushing her during the protests. Konyak expressed her distress, claiming Gandhi's actions were intimidating and inappropriate for a Leader of the Opposition.
The Bigger Picture
This incident has sparked a political storm, with accusations flying from both sides. The opposition’s demand for an apology and the Home Minister’s resignation clashes with the BJP’s narrative of alleged aggression by Gandhi and his supporters.
The turmoil in Parliament reflects the deepening divisions in Indian politics, raising questions about the conduct of elected representatives and respect for parliamentary traditions.
What Lies Ahead?
As the controversy continues to unfold, its impact on parliamentary proceedings and political dynamics in the country remains uncertain. This incident underscores the challenges of maintaining decorum in an increasingly polarized political climate, leaving voters to wonder about the state of India’s democratic institutions.
This dramatic turn of events not only highlights the intensity of political rivalries but also underscores the need for greater accountability and respect within the nation's highest legislative body.
