Rahul Gandhi: BJP, RSS Endangering India's Diversity, Congress to Safeguard Rights

In a fervent address during his election campaign in Kerala, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi levied serious accusations against the BJP and the RSS, asserting their intent to erode the country's rich diversity. Speaking at events in Wayanad and Kozhikode districts, Gandhi underscored the Congress party's commitment to an inclusive India, where citizenship is defined by the ethos of the nation rather than caste, religion, or language.

Gandhi: BJP/RSS Threaten Diversity

Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the controversial electoral bonds issue, suggesting that despite promises of transparency in political funding, the BJP government has obscured crucial details about donors. The Supreme Court's recent decision to invalidate the 2018 electoral bond scheme was highlighted by Gandhi as a testament to its infringement on constitutional rights, including freedom of speech and information. He went as far as to label the scheme "the biggest extortion racket on the planet," directly implicating the Prime Minister in its conception.

The former Congress chief, who is contesting for re-election from Wayanad, reiterated his party's dedication to safeguarding India's constitutional integrity against any attempts at alteration by the BJP and RSS. He emphasized the importance of preserving India's diverse cultural landscape, likening it to a bouquet of flowers where each variety contributes to the nation's collective strength.

At a rally for the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kozhikode, Gandhi elaborated on his vision for India's future, one that respects and protects individual rights as enshrined in the Constitution. He also accused the BJP of trying to monopolize control over key national institutions, suggesting an RSS infiltration aimed at undermining democracy.

Gandhi did not shy away from criticizing Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, questioning the BJP's apparent reluctance to target him with investigations or legal challenges similar to those faced by other opposition leaders. His remarks came amidst a broader critique of what he perceives as selective enforcement actions by central agencies against political adversaries.

The Congress leader's visit to Kerala marks the commencement of the second phase of his election campaign. Having filed his nomination from Wayanad earlier this month after a significant roadshow, Gandhi is looking to replicate his 2019 victory in the Lok Sabha polls, where he secured a record margin. With Kerala set to vote for its 20 Lok Sabha seats on April 26, Gandhi's speeches underscore a pivotal moment in his campaign efforts, aiming to galvanize support against what he views as threats to India's democratic fabric and pluralistic identity.
