Manipur MP A Bimol Akoijam Questions Removal of Queries on Insurgent Group Agreements
Manipur MP A Bimol Akoijam has raised concerns about the removal of his questions from the list of starred questions scheduled for March 11, 2025. He stated that this action infringes on his rights as a Member of Parliament. Akoijam expressed his dissatisfaction in a post on X, highlighting that his name was initially listed but later omitted.

Akoijam met with Speaker Om Birla and the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs to discuss this issue. He emphasised that his questions did not violate any rules regarding admissibility. "This is undoubtedly a serious infringement on my rights and privileges as an elected Member of Parliament," he asserted.
Concerns Over Parliamentary Procedure
The Congress leader had previously written to the secretary general on March 6, 2025, seeking clarification but received no response. His questions were titled "Rehabilitation of insurgent groups in the North East States" and included inquiries about agreements with insurgent groups in northeastern states.
Akoijam also raised the matter during zero hours on Wednesday. He later met with Speaker Om Birla, who acknowledged the issue and assured him that necessary actions would be taken the following week. Akoijam's questions aimed to gather information on state-wise agreements with insurgent groups.
The Inner Manipur MP stressed that removing his questions undermines his legislative oversight duties. He believes it is crucial for elected officials to exercise their constitutionally mandated responsibilities without hindrance.
As an elected representative, Akoijam feels it is vital to address such procedural anomalies. He remains hopeful that the Speaker's intervention will lead to a resolution, ensuring transparency and accountability in parliamentary processes.
