Punjab Will Not Allow Deletion Of Genuine Votes During SIR Process: CM Bhagwant Mann

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has stated that under the ongoing Punjab SIR Process, no genuine voter will lose a place on the electoral roll. Mann said the special intensive revision must not disturb the voting rights of any eligible resident, and stressed that the entire exercise should protect democracy in the state by keeping the lists accurate and fair.

Mann has urged the Election Commission to carry out the Punjab SIR Process with complete honesty, transparency and neutrality. According to Mann, every objection or complaint raised by citizens should be addressed quickly, without delay or bias. Mann warned that any dip in public trust in constitutional bodies could weaken democratic foundations across the country, not just in Punjab.

Punjab SIR Process and protection of genuine voters

Clarifying the official stand on the Punjab SIR Process, Mann explained that names of people who have died, or have settled abroad permanently, should be removed from the voter list. At the same time, Mann said no real resident of Punjab should be troubled or wrongly deleted. Mann added that voter mapping has already been completed for 83 per cent of electors in the state.

Mann announced that Aam Aadmi Party workers will remain active on the ground throughout the Punjab SIR Process. Party leaders and volunteers will be present at every polling station and will work alongside Booth Level Officers. According to Mann, these teams will watch each step carefully so that no eligible voter is missed and any attempt to disturb the rolls is noticed early.

Punjab SIR Process, fake votes and political misuse

The Chief Minister warned that no political party will be allowed to misuse the Punjab SIR Process to create fake voters. Mann said the electoral exercise must stay clean, with no manipulation for partisan benefit. He asserted that the Punjab government and Aam Aadmi Party will try to block any clever tricks that seek to twist the voter list for advantage.

Mann said preventing fake entries was as important as saving genuine names during the Punjab SIR Process. He noted that every citizen’s democratic right must stay intact, and called this the government’s highest priority. Strong monitoring, according to Mann, would act as a check on those who might try to engineer changes in the rolls for narrow political gains.

The Chief Minister pointed out that during similar exercises in several other states, there were complaints about lakhs of genuine voters being removed and serious verification errors. Mann said such reports had created fear and unease among people. Punjab’s alert citizens, Mann added, would not accept this kind of problem in their state and were already watching the process closely.

Learning from these issues elsewhere, Mann stated that Punjab authorities are taking extra care while handling the Punjab SIR Process. The aim is to avoid any dispute over voter deletions and to keep checks tight from the beginning. Mann also appealed to voters to take part actively in the revision, check their details, and raise objections wherever they notice mistakes.

Mann said a fair and careful Punjab SIR Process will help keep elections in Punjab clean and credible. By stopping fake registrations, correcting outdated entries and ensuring that no real voter is removed, the state hopes to protect public faith in elections. Mann underlined that these steps are essential for a stronger democratic system in Punjab.
