Punjab Soldier's 18-Year-Old Son's Organ Donation Provides New Life to Five Patients
An 18-year-old named Arshdeep, declared brain dead at an army hospital in Chandimandir after a road accident, has given new hope to five patients through organ donation. Arshdeep, the son of an army soldier, suffered severe injuries on February 8. His family decided to donate his organs, transforming their tragedy into a chance for others to live.

Arshdeep was involved in a serious road accident on February 8, 2025. Initially treated at a private hospital in Ropar, he was later moved to Command Hospital, Western Command, Chandimandir. Despite the efforts of intensivists and neurosurgeons for eight days, he was declared brain stem dead on February 15.
Organ Donation Brings New Life
The transplant coordination team at CHWC obtained consent for organ donation. This led to the transplantation of multiple organs, benefiting five individuals. One kidney and pancreas were sent to PGIMER for a simultaneous transplant. His liver and another kidney were allocated to Army Hospital Research and Referral in New Delhi.
Additionally, Arshdeep's corneas were preserved at the Eye Bank of CHWC. These will help two visually impaired individuals regain their sight. Maj Gen Matthews Jacob praised the family's courage, stating that Arshdeep's legacy will continue through the lives he saved.
Prof. Vipin Koushal from PGIMER highlighted the urgent need for organ donations. He noted that many patients die each year waiting for transplants. Arshdeep's donation sets an example for the nation, encouraging others to consider this noble cause.
Arshdeep's father expressed his emotions through a statement from PGIMER. He shared that his son was always full of life and eager to help others. Although Arshdeep is no longer with them, his heart continues to beat elsewhere, and his eyes will see the world through those he saved.
This act of generosity by Arshdeep's family serves as a powerful reminder of the impact organ donation can have. Their decision has not only saved lives but also inspired others to consider organ donation as a way to give back to society.
