Punjab Police Issue Lookout Notice for AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra in Ongoing Rape Case

Punjab Police have issued a lookout notice for AAP MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, who has been absconding since September 2 in connection with a rape case. His anticipatory bail plea was rejected by a local court.

A lookout notice has been issued by the police for Aam Aadmi Party MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, who has been missing since September 2 in connection with a rape case. Officials confirmed this development on Thursday. Posters with details of the Sanour MLA have been displayed outside his official and private residences, as well as at a local bus stand.

Pathanmajra's legal representatives, Bikramjit Singh Bhullar and S S Saggu, plan to seek anticipatory bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. This follows the rejection of his bail plea by a local court. The first-time MLA has been evading arrest since September 2 after escaping police custody in Karnal, Haryana.

MLA's Escape and Allegations

The Punjab Police attempted to apprehend Pathanmajra in Karnal, where he was staying with a relative. During this operation, supporters allegedly fired gunshots and threw stones at the police team. Pathanmajra, however, denied any involvement in these actions, claiming he fled upon hearing he might be killed in a staged encounter.

The charges against Pathanmajra were filed on September 1 at the Civil Lines police station. The accusations include rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation. A woman from Zirakpur lodged the complaint, alleging that Pathanmajra falsely claimed to be divorced to start a relationship with her.

Details of the Complaint

The complainant stated that Pathanmajra married her in 2021 while still being married to another woman. She accused him of ongoing sexual exploitation and threats, along with sending her obscene content. These allegations have led to the current legal proceedings against him.

As the situation unfolds, authorities continue their search for Pathanmajra. His lawyers are preparing to challenge the court's decision on his bail application. Meanwhile, the police maintain their efforts to locate and apprehend him.
