Punjab's Bhagwant Mann Government expanded its anti-drug campaign, leading AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal to accuse the BJP-linked 'ED Party' of drug trade involvement after an associate's arrest, while alleging 70% of drugs enter Punjab via Gujarat.

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and other party leaders cited the arrest to target rivals. They said the state action was revealing those tied to narcotics supply. They also said Punjab’s campaign was aimed at protecting young people from drug abuse.

Punjab drug crackdown puts 'ED Party’ under AAP attack

Kejriwal posted on X and questioned the alleged role of 'ED Party’ leaders in the drug trade. He also linked the issue to Gujarat, claiming most drugs entering Punjab came through that route. AAP leaders framed the arrest as part of a wider political charge.

"ED Party office-bearers have themselves been caught selling drugs in Punjab. Are the ED Party's links connected to the drug trade? Today, 70 % of the drugs entering Punjab are coming through Gujarat. Under the alliance Government of the ED Party and 'Chitta Party', chitta was delivered to households across Punjab. Drugs were distributed door-to-door in Government vehicles under official patronage."

Kejriwal further accused the 'ED Party’ and 'Chitta Party’ of harming Punjab’s youth. He said Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s action against chitta had given hope to young people. AAP presented the crackdown as a firm state response to narcotics.

"The ED Party and Chitta Party are responsible for destroying Punjab's youth. By striking at chitta, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has once again given Punjab's youth hope for a bright future," noted the AAP Supremo.

Punjab drug crackdown draws statements from AAP leaders

AAP National Media In-Charge Anurag Dhanda also issued a statement on X. Dhanda said the Bhagwant Mann Government had broken the drug network in Punjab. He alleged that 'ED Party’ members had now begun supplying drugs themselves.

"Bhagwant Mann Government has dismantled the drug network so thoroughly that ED Party members have now entered the field themselves to supply drugs. CM Bhagwant Mann Ji, crush anyone involved in the drug trade in Punjab. Save Punjab's coming generations from these ED Party drug traffickers, that is all we ask."

The comments came as AAP continued to link the arrest with its anti-drug campaign. Party leaders said the state government would act against anyone involved. They argued that the campaign was not limited by political identity or position.

Punjab drug crackdown linked to wider narcotics allegations

Senior AAP leader and Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar made further allegations against the 'ED Party’. Kumar claimed drugs were ordered from abroad and unloaded at Adani’s ports. He said they were then sent across the country and sold by party workers.

"ED Party orders drugs from abroad, gets them unloaded at Adani's ports, then sends them to every corner of the country, after which ED Party workers sell them. In Punjab, the Bhagwant Mann Government is shutting down their drug business. That is why the Chitta Party and ED Party are worried," he stated.

AAP said the Bhagwant Mann Government’s action had increased pressure on drug peddlers and narcotics networks. The party maintained that the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign remained focused on Punjab’s youth. The latest arrest has now placed the issue at the centre of a sharp political fight.
