Punjab Bus Accident: Eight Dead In Bathinda, Rescue Operations And Investigations Underway
Punjab Bus Accident: In a tragic accident on Friday, eight people lost their lives and several others were injured when a private bus plunged into a drain after crashing through a bridge railing in Bathinda, Punjab.
The bus, which was carrying over 45 passengers, was en route from Talwandi Sabo to Bathinda when the incident occurred near Jeewan Singhwala village.

Punjab Bus Accident: Rescue and Recovery Efforts
Upon impact, the bus fell into the Lasara drain, just a few feet below the bridge. Locals quickly responded, rushing to the scene to assist the passengers. Police, along with the district administration, initiated a large-scale rescue operation, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was also deployed to provide support.
Punjab Bus Accident: Details of the Incident
Bathinda's Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Ahmad Parray, who arrived at the location to oversee the rescue operations, confirmed the death toll. "Eight people have died, including a two-year-old girl. Five individuals succumbed to their injuries at Talwandi Hospital, while three others were declared dead at the Civil Hospital in Bathinda," Parray said. He also mentioned that five of the deceased have been identified, while three others remain unidentified.
According to Amneet Kondal, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Bathinda, 46 passengers were rescued from the wreckage, and the condition of the remaining survivors is reported to be stable. "As of now, the deaths have been confirmed, but the health conditions of the other passengers are normal," Kondal stated.
Punjab Bus Accident: Investigation and Ongoing Support
Authorities believe that the bus was traveling at high speed when the driver lost control, though the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. The weather in the area was reportedly inclement at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the tragedy.
The Punjab government has promised all necessary assistance to the victims' families, and officials are continuing efforts to support the injured and ensure further safety measures in the region.
As investigations continue, the tragic loss of life has left the community in mourning, and the local administration is working to provide relief to the affected families.
