Pune Police Expose Cover-Up in Fatal Porsche Crash Involving Teen

In a significant development in the tragic accident that occurred in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, where two individuals lost their lives, the Pune Police have disclosed attempts to mislead the investigation. The incident, which involved a Porsche knocking down two IT professionals on May 19, has taken a new turn with revelations from the police force.

Cover-Up in Pune Porsche Crash Exposed

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, in a recent briefing, stated that there was substantial evidence indicating that a 17-year-old was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. This contradicts earlier claims suggesting the family's driver was driving. The case has seen significant developments, including the suspension of two police officials for procedural lapses and the transfer of the investigation to the crime branch.

The local court has placed six accused under judicial custody, including Vishal Agarwal, the teenager's father. Despite police requests for extended custody, all accused are now awaiting trial. Amidst these proceedings, the bereaved families from Madhya Pradesh have called for Supreme Court oversight of both the investigation and trial, proposing a shift of venue to their home state.

Commissioner Kumar highlighted that CCTV footage and other chronological evidence firmly establish the teenager's involvement. Despite rumors of leniency towards the juvenile post-accident, Kumar clarified that no "pizza party" occurred within police premises, though an internal investigation on related matters is ongoing.

The initial FIR lodged under section 304 A for death by negligence was promptly upgraded to section 304, reflecting the gravity of the offense as culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This revision underscores the seriousness with which Pune Police is treating this case.

Further complicating matters are allegations of eyewitness pressure and potential influence on investigative directions following political intervention. However, Kumar assured that any proven misconduct by police officers would be met with strict action.

In an unexpected twist, following public outcry and a police review plea, the Juvenile Justice Board rescinded its initial decision to grant bail in exchange for an essay. The teenager is now placed in an observation home until June 5. Additionally, arrests include Vishal Agarwal for exposing his child to danger and staff from two bars for serving alcohol to a minor.

The suspension of Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari of Yerawada Police Station underscores the ongoing scrutiny into police handling of this case. Meanwhile, families of victims Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta remain steadfast in their quest for justice. Suresh Kumar Koshta and Om Prakash Awadhiya have voiced their determination to see this case through to its conclusion, advocating for a trial in Madhya Pradesh rather than Pune.

This tragic incident not only highlights critical issues surrounding underage drinking and driving but also raises questions about accountability and justice in the face of loss. As this case progresses, it serves as a somber reminder of the consequences of negligence and the importance of rigorous legal scrutiny.
