The Pune Municipal Corporation has suspended three employees and transferred an assistant commissioner due to complaints about poor sanitation and inadequate cleanliness measures in the city. The actions followed inspections revealing serious civic issues.

During his visit, Ram encountered numerous complaints from residents about civic issues. He observed open drainage chambers that posed risks to both pedestrians and drivers, along with health concerns. "During my visit, the locals complained of various civic issues. I found that the drainage chambers were open and posed dangers to commuters and motorists, besides health hazards," Ram stated.

Poor Sanitation and Road Conditions

In addition to sanitation problems, the roads in these areas were in poor condition, marked by potholes. The overall cleanliness was not satisfactory. As a result, Balasaheb Dhawale Patil, the assistant commissioner of the Hadapsar ward office, was transferred. Executive Engineer Ravi Khandare was appointed as his replacement.

Further actions included suspending a junior engineer from the drainage department, a health inspector from the solid waste management department, and a mukadam for their inadequate performance. "Additionally, a junior engineer from the drainage department, a health inspector from the solid waste management department, and a mukadam were suspended for unsatisfactory performance," Ram added.

Previous Disciplinary Actions

Just two days earlier, during an inspection in Wagholi under the Nagar Road ward office, Ram had transferred Assistant Commissioner Sheetal Wakde, Deputy Engineer Vinayak Shinde, and PMC employee Ganesh Puram. This action was due to their inaction concerning drainage and encroachment issues.

Ram emphasised that the administration must operate efficiently and any negligence will not be tolerated. "The administration must work efficiently, and any sort of dereliction of duty will not be tolerated," he asserted. He also warned that strict measures would be taken against encroachments and urged officials to address citizens' complaints promptly.

These actions underscore PMC's commitment to improving civic conditions by holding employees accountable for their duties. The focus remains on ensuring better sanitation and infrastructure maintenance across Pune's wards.
