Pune airport border expansion gets Defence Ministry's nod
Pune, Oct 25: A long-pending proposal to expand Pune airport's border for better operational capacity has got nod of the defence ministry which has agreed to stretch it by 15 acres, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said today.
After a meeting with Pune district and Air Force officials here, Gadkari told reporters that the proposal for expanding Pune airport's border which he had been pursuing, had received approval from Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. Pune civil airport is co-housed on the land also used by Indian Air Force at Lohegaon on the outskirts of the city.

The Surface Transport Minister said the city with his rapid growth would also need an additional new airport and the state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was working on the proposal.
