Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya described the visuals as "terrifying" and accused the Congress of disrespecting Hindu deities. In a post on X, Surya wrote, "This visual of Lord Ganesha in a police vehicle is terrifying. Why is the Congress hell-bent on insulting our deities, and belittling the faith of millions of Hindus?"

The images in question were from a protest held at Bengaluru's Town Hall, not related to the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The police had taken the idol into custody temporarily to protect it during a protest against recent clashes in Nagamangala.

Bengaluru police have provided a clarification regarding the recent controversy involving a Ganesh idol. A senior officer explained that the idol was temporarily placed inside a police van while protesters were being detained.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Bengaluru Central Division stated, "On September 13, 2024, Hindu groups staged a protest at Bengaluru's Town Hall against the Nagamangala Ganesh procession incident, in violation of a High Court order. The demonstrators were detained, and the Ganapati idol was subsequently immersed by authorities following traditional rituals."

PM Modi's Visit to CJI's Residence Sparks Political Debate

In a separate incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Chief Justice of India Dhananjay Chandrachud's residence for a Gauri-Ganesh pooja during Ganeshotsav triggered another political war of words. The Opposition claimed that the visit compromised the separation of powers between the judiciary and the executive, but the BJP dismissed these criticisms as an attack on Hinduism.

Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut slammed the visit, questioning its implications for key judicial cases involving the government, while Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis responded by posting images of former PM Manmohan Singh hosting an iftar with a then-serving CJI KG Balakrishnan in 2009.

Sharad Pawar's Lalbaugcha Raja Visit Raises Speculation

The ruling party has also been highlighting the hypocrisy of Opposition leaders, such as Sharad Pawar, who have been visiting Hindu temples and pandals while making contentious remarks about Hindu deities. Pawar's visit to the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh pandal in Mumbai was seen as a strategic move to counter criticism and appeal to Hindu voters before upcoming Assembly elections.

BJP leaders have been quick to point out that Pawar's actions are a clear example of political opportunism and an attempt to connect with the Hindu vote bank. State BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule suggested that Pawar aimed to connect with the Hindu vote bank due to political shifts caused by Mahayuti's emergence.

The BJP has been successful in countering the Opposition's attempts to create a negative narrative about Hinduism and its values. The ruling party has been promoting Hinduism and its values, and has been working tirelessly to promote unity and harmony among all communities.
