Proposal to show crowded Indian train in Bond movie was shot

New Delhi, Jul 14: Producers of James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig had proposed to shoot a scene showing an Indian train with people travelling on its rooftop but it was shot down, the then Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi said today.

He disclosed this in the Lok Sabha while participating in a debate on Rail Budget when he said the image of Indian Railways is not a good one. Trivedi, who was Railway Minister between July 2011 and March 2012, said during his tenure there was a proposal for shooting a scene for James Bond movie "Skyfall" on an Indian train.

He said he had no objection to this but made it clear that the train will not be shown with people travelling on its rooftop, which was a routine feature in some parts of the country.

To this, the producers of the movie said they want to show exactly the same, said Trivedi, a member of Trinamool Congress. "But I refused," he said, arguing that this image of the country could not be depicted. "Skyfall" was released globally last year.
