Properties Linked to Pakistan-Based Terror Handlers Attached in Kupwara District
Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district took action against properties linked to Pakistan-based terror handlers on Friday, according to police reports. This move is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the support systems of terrorists operating from across the border. The properties belong to Kashmiri handlers associated with banned groups Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as stated by a police spokesperson.

The attachments were executed under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) following directives from the designated NIA court in Kupwara. The properties include 3 kanals and 6 marlas of land owned by Abdul Hamid Sheikh, and 18 marlas belonging to Qazi Khushal Pathan, both from Dhani, Karnah. Additionally, 2 kanals and 9 marlas of land belonging to Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh from Nawagabra, Karnah were also attached.
Properties Linked to Terror Activities
Investigations revealed that these individuals, currently operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), are affiliated with HM/LeT. They have been actively involved in radicalising and recruiting local youth into terrorist ranks. Furthermore, they orchestrated cross-border smuggling of arms, narcotics, and terror funds to incite unrest in the region and beyond in Jammu and Kashmir.
The attached lands were reportedly intended for promoting, facilitating, and funding unlawful activities that violate national laws and sovereignty. "These terrorists operated from across the border while attempting to build support infrastructure locally through sympathisers and handlers," the spokesperson stated.
Deterring Terrorism Support
The attachment of these properties serves as a significant deterrent against such elements. It sends a clear message that any support for terrorism will not be tolerated. The authorities aim to disrupt the network of terror handlers by targeting their assets and cutting off their resources.
This decisive action highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat terrorism effectively. By targeting the financial and logistical networks of terrorists, authorities hope to weaken their influence and prevent further recruitment and radicalisation efforts.
Efforts like these are crucial in maintaining peace and security in the region. By dismantling the infrastructure supporting terrorism, authorities aim to create a safer environment for residents while upholding national sovereignty.
