Profile Picture Change Leads To Blue Tick Loss For Yogi Adityanath, Eknath Shinde And Others on Twitter

Several prominent politicians, including chief ministers, saw their coveted Golden and Blue ticks vanish from their profiles on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

This occurred subsequent to their participation in the government's 'Har Ghar Tiranga campaign,' during which they changed their profile pictures to the Tricolour.

Among the affected leaders were Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Haryana's Manohar Lal Khattar, Assam's Himanta Biswa Sarma, Goa's Dr. Pramod Sawant, Madhya Pradesh's Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttarakhand's Pushkar Singh Dhami, Maharashtra's Eknath Shinde, his deputy Devendra Fadnavis, and Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. Even the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) experienced a loss of its Golden tick after adopting the Tricolour as its display picture.

However, it's important to clarify that this occurrence isn't a result of technical issues or a crackdown by X on these profiles. Instead, it aligns with the platform's verification guidelines. X's official blog explains that verified users are required to maintain authentic names and profile images. Any alterations to these elements can lead to the temporary removal of the verification badge. Following this, the X team will review the profiles.

Affected users need not be concerned, as the verification tick will reappear once the specified requirements are met and fulfilled successfully.
