Priyanka Gandhi, Ravindra Chavan To Take MP Oath In Lok Sabha On Thursday
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan, both from the Congress party, are set to take their oaths as Members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Priyanka will be the third member of her family to join Parliament. Ravindra Chavan secured his position by winning the Nanded seat with 5,86,788 votes in a by-election.
The Nanded seat became available after the passing of Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan, necessitating the bypoll. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra emerged victorious in Wayanad, defeating Sathyan Mokeri from the Communist Party of India (CPI) by a margin of 4,10,931 votes. The contest in Wayanad was triangular, involving candidates from Congress, BJP, and CPI.

Priyanka's Victory in Wayanad
Priyanka ran for the Wayanad seat under the United Democratic Front (UDF) banner. Her brother Rahul Gandhi previously held this seat before moving to Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh after being elected there in this year's general elections. Priyanka expressed joy upon receiving her election certificate on Wednesday.
"My colleagues from Wayanad brought my certificate of election today. For me, it is not just a document; it is a symbol of your love, trust, and the values we are committed to. Thank you, Wayanad, for choosing me to take forward this journey to build a better future for yourselves," Priyanka said on X.
Gratitude Expressed
On November 23rd, Priyanka conveyed her appreciation to voters for their support after her win in Wayanad. She stated that she felt immense gratitude for their trust and promised to represent them effectively in Parliament. "I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the trust you have placed in me," she shared on X.
"I will make sure that over time, you truly feel this victory has been your victory and that the person you chose to represent you understands your hopes and dreams and fights for you as one of your own. I look forward to being your voice in Parliament!," she said on X.
Jharkhand's Political Scene
Meanwhile, Hemant Soren is scheduled to be sworn in as Jharkhand's Chief Minister on November 28th. This follows the JMM-led alliance's success in securing a majority during the Assembly elections. It marks a historic moment as it's the first time an incumbent government has returned to power after completing five years in office.
This political development highlights significant changes within both national and regional landscapes. As Priyanka Gandhi Vadra steps into her new role alongside Ravindra Chavan, they aim to contribute positively towards India's legislative processes while Hemant Soren continues his leadership journey within Jharkhand state politics.
