Priyanka Gandhi Critiques PM Modi's Understanding of Bharat ka Samvidhan in Lok Sabha Speech

In a fiery debut speech in the Lok Sabha, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She argued that he misunderstands the Indian Constitution, which she described as a "protective shield" for justice and unity. According to her, the BJP-led government has tried to undermine this shield over the past decade.

Priyanka Gandhi Critiques PM Modi on Constitution

Priyanka Gandhi accused the ruling party of attempting to alter the Constitution and criticised their alleged favouritism towards the Adani Group. She highlighted issues like violence against women and demanded a nationwide caste census. Her speech was delivered in Hindi, maintaining a combative yet composed tone.

Constitutional Concerns and Economic Inequality

The Congress leader claimed that if the Lok Sabha election results had been different, the BJP would have started changing the Constitution. She emphasised that people are demanding a caste-based census, which even the ruling party is discussing due to electoral outcomes. The BJP-led NDA secured 293 seats in recent elections, with BJP alone winning 240 seats.

Priyanka Gandhi also addressed economic disparities, alleging that wealth and opportunities are being concentrated in the hands of one individual. She suggested that public resources like ports and railways are being handed over to this person, increasing inequality as the rich get richer while the poor become poorer.

Criticism of BJP's Governance

She accused the government of fostering an atmosphere of fear reminiscent of British rule. According to her, those who spread fear eventually become victims of it themselves. Priyanka Gandhi noted that people are now afraid to speak out, with journalists and opposition leaders facing intimidation and false allegations.

Addressing Union Minister Rajnath Singh, she challenged him to focus on current responsibilities rather than past events. She questioned whether all responsibility lies with Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, whose contributions cannot be erased from history despite criticism.

Allegations of Divisive Politics

Priyanka Gandhi accused the BJP of sowing seeds of suspicion and hatred where unity once prevailed. She criticised Prime Minister Modi for not responding to cries for justice from places like Sambhal and Manipur. Despite touching his forehead to the Constitution, she claimed there is no concern for justice.

The Congress leader also took aim at those who switched allegiance to the BJP, suggesting they were "washed" clean by joining the ruling party. She remarked on how media machines spread lies and accusations against opposition leaders.

Call for Accountability

Priyanka Gandhi urged the BJP to hold elections using ballot papers to reveal their true standing. She referenced a story about a king who disguised himself to hear criticism from his people, contrasting it with today's leadership that avoids public scrutiny.

The Congress MP concluded by asserting that despite challenges, people will rise and demand justice. She expressed confidence that citizens will protect and keep alive the Constitution's values against any attempts to undermine them.
