"Priests to Conduct Historic 'Maha Yajna' at Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, Demanding Rashtra Mata for Cows
In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a significant spiritual event is underway as preparations for the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela progress. This event, celebrated once every 144 years, is set to feature a monumental Yagya Kund, the largest at the event, under the guidance of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. The focal point of this gathering is a 'Maha Yajna' conducted by approximately 1,100 priests, aiming to honor cows by advocating for their recognition as the "Mother of the Nation." This grand celebration not only underscores the cultural richness of India but also highlights the spiritual unity and elevated purpose that the Maha Kumbh Mela represents.

The ceremonial platform, or mandap, where this significant Yagya will take place, has been meticulously designed with 324 kunds and 9 shikharas, reflecting a deep spiritual symbolism. The priests engaged in the Yagya will dedicate nine hours daily over an entire month to this sacred ritual. Their collective efforts symbolize a quest for spiritual elevation and unity among participants. The primary intention behind this elaborate ritual is to challenge and ultimately eradicate the practice of cow slaughter in India, as stated by officials involved in the event's organization.
Mukundanand Brahmachari, discussing the profound religious underpinnings of the Yajna, emphasized the central role of cows in Hinduism, highlighted by their significance in the lives of revered deities such as Lord Shri Ram and Lord Krishna. He expressed a strong desire to see an end to cow slaughter in India, advocating for greater respect and protection for these animals. His sentiments reflect a broader spiritual and cultural movement towards recognizing the sanctity of life and the importance of compassionate treatment towards all beings.
Efforts to Protect Indigenous Cows
In support of the Yajna's objectives, efforts are being made to house 35 breeds of indigenous cows in the camp, with the construction of Gaushalas underway. Volunteers and cow protectors from across the nation are mobilizing, bringing these cows to the Maha Kumbh Mela site as a testament to their dedication to this cause. The construction of the Yajna Mandap is proceeding swiftly, with 75% of the kunds already completed after more than a month of diligent work by 50 volunteers each day. This initiative underscores the community's commitment to the welfare and protection of cows in India.
The Maha Kumbh Mela of 2025 in Prayagraj is not just a religious gathering; it's a powerful statement on cultural and spiritual values, particularly concerning the revered status of cows in Indian society. By setting up the largest Yajna Kund and dedicating the event to a cause as pivotal as the protection of cows, the organizers are sending a clear message about the importance of tradition, spirituality, and the sanctity of life. As the preparations continue and the event draws closer, it stands as a beacon of unity, spiritual aspiration, and a call to action for the protection of one of India's most sacred beings.
