Pregnant Woman Attacked in Delhi: Partner Arrested for Attempted Murder

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Delhi for allegedly trying to kill his 19-year-old pregnant partner. The woman was found severely injured in east Delhis Mayur Vihar and is currently battling for life in a hospital.

In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old man in Delhi was arrested on Saturday for allegedly attempting to kill his 19-year-old pregnant partner. The woman, who works in an Ayurveda clinic, was found severely injured near the fire brigade office in Chilla village on Thursday morning.

Accused Identified and Motive Revealed

The accused, identified as Yogesh Dheda, a resident of Chilla village, allegedly attacked the woman with a screwdriver, blade, and stones in an attempt to abort her pregnancy. The couple had been in a relationship for three years, but their relationship turned sour after the woman informed Dheda about her pregnancy.

Victim's Condition and Police Investigation

The victim is currently battling for her life at Lok Nayak Hospital and has been put on ventilator support. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police East Achin Garg stated that Dheda left the woman at the spot, assuming she was dead. Based on technical evidence, chat history between the couple, and CCTV footage, the police apprehended Dheda and produced him before the court.

Prior Planning and Destruction of Evidence

Garg revealed that Dheda had come prepared to eliminate the woman, carrying a screwdriver and a blade. He destroyed her mobile phone and SIM card to conceal evidence. The police lodged an FIR under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the incident.

Relationship Dispute and Forced Abortion

The officer investigating the case disclosed that the victim and Dheda had known each other for a few years and resided in the same locality. Their relationship faced challenges when the woman informed Dheda about her pregnancy. Dheda pressured her to abort the child and even provided her with pills to induce a miscarriage.

Attack on the Woman

Frustrated by the woman's refusal to terminate the pregnancy, Dheda attacked her on Wednesday night while she was returning home from work. The incident occurred outside the New Ashok Nagar Metro station, where Dheda tried to convince her to abort the child. Upon her refusal, he allegedly stabbed her multiple times with a screwdriver and blade, slashed her neck, and stoned her face with bricks to conceal her identity.
