Prayagraj Traffic Update: Cars Not Allowed —Here’s What Devotees Need To Know Ahead Of Mauni Amavasya
Devotees moving to Prayagraj are advised to avoid using their vehicles. Barricades have been set up throughout the city and on connecting roads. Since Tuesday night, a strict ban on four-wheelers has been in place. This measure is being rigorously enforced to ensure smooth movement during the Mauni Amavasya celebrations, according to a Dainik Bhaskar (DB) report.
Parking facilities in the city are saturated. A day before Mauni Amavasya, all parking lots reached full capacity. The 35 parking areas within a two-kilometre radius of the fairground are packed. These include zones like Parade, Arail, and Hansi, with a combined capacity for around two lakh vehicles.
Prayagraj Traffic Restrictions
Mithilesh Pandey from Sohbatiabagh shared his experience in the DB report: "Barricades have been put up at a short distance from the house. It is very difficult to go out anywhere. There is a complete ban on four-wheelers." He was only allowed to proceed after explaining his reason for travel to the police.
Avnish from Naini faced similar challenges when trying to reach Arail, as per the same report. He attempted an alternate route via Jeetlal Chowk but was turned back by police officers. They informed him that cars were not permitted beyond that point.
Police Measures
The police have urged residents not to use bikes on city roads. With crowds heading towards Sangam for Mauni Amavasya bathing rituals, barricades block many roads to prevent vehicle movement. However, some roads lack physical barricades; here, police make announcements urging people not to drive.
The entry of devotees into the city has been restricted since midnight on Monday. Authorities aim to manage the influx of visitors effectively while ensuring safety and order during this significant religious event.
The measures taken reflect efforts to maintain order amidst large gatherings. Residents are encouraged to comply with restrictions for their safety and that of others participating in the festivities.
