Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party Gets 'School Bag' Election Symbol
With only a couple of months to the enthralling Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has allotted "school bag" as election symbol to Prashant Kishor's new formed Jan Suraj Party.
Prashant Kishor has already announced that his party will contest on all 243 seats. Party leaders are pleased with this decision, believing it aligns with their mission to bring reform and social upliftment through structured policies and inclusive development.

Prashant Kishor, a political strategist turned activist, announced the formation of the Jan Suraj Party on October 2, 2024. The launch took place at Veterinary College Ground in Bihar's capital, attended by notable personalities. This event occurred two years after Kishor's extensive 'padayatra' across Bihar, starting from Champaran, where Mahatma Gandhi initiated his first Satyagraha. The journey aimed to mobilise people for a "new political alternative" to address Bihar's persistent backwardness.
Leadership and Strategy
In a recent development, former BJP MP Uday Singh was appointed as the first national president of the Jan Suraj Party. Prashant Kishor announced this at a press conference in Patna last month. Kishor stated that he would now focus on public outreach while entrusting organisational responsibilities to Uday Singh and RCP Singh. He emphasised that Uday Singh was "chosen, not by a mere majority, but unanimously" by a dedicated committee.
The party's formation marks a significant step in Bihar's political landscape. With its new symbol and leadership under Uday Singh, the Jan Suraj Party aims to present itself as a viable alternative for voters seeking change. The party's focus on reform and development resonates with many citizens eager for progress in the state.
The allocation of the "school bag" symbol is seen as a strategic move to connect with voters who value education and development. By aligning their symbol with these values, the Jan Suraj Party hopes to attract support from diverse demographics across Bihar.
As the election approaches, all eyes are on how effectively the Jan Suraj Party can leverage its new symbol and leadership to gain traction among voters. The party's emphasis on inclusive development and structured policy could play a crucial role in shaping its electoral success.
