Vadodara Sees Surge in Political Tension with Banners Against BJP MP Ranjan Bhatt
In a recent turn of events in Vadodara, Gujarat, a series of banners critical of Lok Sabha MP Ranjan Bhatt surfaced across the city, leading to swift action by the authorities. The banners, which appeared in Karelibaug and Harni areas on Tuesday night, were removed by Wednesday morning. According to party leaders, the police have detained two local Congress workers suspected of being behind the act. However, official confirmation from law enforcement has yet to be provided.

The banners carried messages in Gujarati and Hindi expressing discontent with MP Bhatt while showing no grievance against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. One banner provocatively asked if the BJP would impose any representative on the people, highlighting a sense of helplessness among Vadodara's residents. Another questioned the lack of interest from Gujarat's Chief Minister and the state BJP president in Vadodara's development.
MP Ranjan Bhatt confirmed that individuals involved in putting up these banners were apprehended by the police, with CCTV footage aiding in their identification. Bhatt dismissed any suggestions of internal discord within the BJP, asserting unity and collective effort among party members.
Contrarily, Congress Vadodara city unit president Rutvij Joshi suggested that either BJP workers or citizens dissatisfied with the party's decision to renominate Bhatt could have placed the banners. In response, Vadodara city BJP president Vijay Shah credited the police for detaining two Congress workers, Harish Oad and Dhruvil Vasava, for their alleged involvement in this misleading campaign.
This incident follows closely on the heels of the BJP's decision to suspend its national women's wing vice-president Dr. Jyotiben Pandya after Bhatt was renominated from Vadodara. Dr. Pandya had openly criticized the decision, questioning Bhatt's contributions to Vadodara's development compared to other cities like Surat and Ahmedabad.
The controversy sheds light on the underlying tensions within political circles in Vadodara and raises questions about party dynamics and public sentiment ahead of upcoming elections.
