Terrorists Shoot Dead Policeman Outside His House in Baramulla District
A policeman, a father of seven, was shot dead by terrorists outside his house in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident has led to a search operation being conducted.
In a tragic incident in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, terrorists shot dead a policeman outside his house. The victim, Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar, was a father to seven children. After being critically injured in the attack, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to officials and family members, Ghulam Mohammad Dar was not on leave at the time of the attack. He had returned home after duty when he was targeted by the terrorists. Abdul Hamed Dar, a relative of the slain policeman stated that "Dar was shot on the main road outside the gate of his house." Following this brutal act of violence, an area-wide search operation has been initiated.
Tributes Pour In
A wreath-laying ceremony for Dar took place at DPL Baramulla where top police officers along with army and CPRF officials paid their respects. Various political parties including Congress, National Conference (NC), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also condemned this violent act while directing criticism towards BJP-led central government for its handling of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Criticism Towards Government
Jammu & Kashmir Congress Chief Vikar Rasool Wani expressed deep concern over rising incidents of terrorism asking Lt Governors administration and Centre to focus more on ensuring safety rather than celebrating UT's foundation day. Wani said "The situation is alarming as three targeted killings have taken place in a row in three days while government is busy celebrating UT divas."
Reactions from Political Leaders
Former chief minister Omar Abdullah termed these attacks as an indicator of terrible price that J&K Police personnel are paying in fight against terrorism. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also expressed her condolences and condemned the rise in such attacks. Altaf Bukhari, Apni Party president, called these attacks worrying and urged authorities to take necessary steps for ensuring peace.
BJP's Response
While BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur termed the incident a dastardly act of terror, he assured that efforts are underway to completely eradicate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. He stated "Fight to wipe out all terrorists will continue and time is not far when last nail will be pushed in coffin of terrorism."
In conclusion, this tragic event has once again highlighted the constant threat posed by terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir. As political leaders express their concern over rising incidents of violence, it becomes increasingly clear that more needs to be done to ensure safety of innocents and crush militancy. Amidst criticism towards government's handling of situation, there is hope that effective measures will be taken soon to restore long-lasting peace in region.
