Solapurkar, known for his roles in Marathi films, has apologised for using the term "bribe" and offending those who hold Chhatrapati Shivaji in high regard. He also stepped down as a trustee of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI) following demands from Maratha organisations.
