During his speech, Patel stressed that an appointment letter is more than just a job offer; it represents a commitment to responsibility, discipline, and national service. He urged the new recruits to prioritise humility in speech, politeness in behaviour, and integrity in action. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that these officers would be guided by the principle of "Nagrik Devo Bhavah," meaning citizens are like God.
Focus on Smart Policing
Patel shared insights on smart policing initiatives aimed at modernising the police force. He mentioned advancements such as state-wide CCTV networks, Command and Control Centres, body-worn cameras, and cyber safety projects. These technological enhancements are designed to strengthen the police force's capabilities.
The Chief Minister noted that the youth joining the force are technologically adept, which will aid in capacity building. He expressed optimism that Gujarat will lead in building a "Viksit Bharat" or Developed India by 2047. This vision aligns with the state's efforts to enhance police operations through technology.
Empowerment Through Uniform
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi congratulated the 11,607 newly-appointed candidates. Holding the home portfolio, Sanghavi highlighted that joining the Gujarat police empowers them to combat social evils. He stated that the uniform symbolises their power to serve and protect citizens under all circumstances.
Sanghavi encouraged recruits to work with renewed energy and enthusiasm to uphold the dignity and honour of their uniform. He advised them to remain connected to their communities as ordinary citizens even after donning the uniform. This connection ensures they stay grounded and aware of local issues.
Transparent Posting Process
For the first time in Gujarat, selected candidates will have a say in their preferred district for posting. Sanghavi explained that transparent rules have been established to facilitate postings in home or nearby districts whenever possible. This approach aims to accommodate personal preferences while maintaining operational efficiency.
Additionally, preparations are underway for conducting physical tests for new recruitment by January's end. This step is part of ongoing efforts to streamline recruitment processes and ensure transparency in selecting candidates for various roles within the police force.
The ceremony underscored the commitment of Gujarat's leadership to modernise its police force while maintaining strong community ties. By focusing on technological advancements and transparent processes, the state aims to enhance its law enforcement capabilities effectively.
