New Delhi, Dec 3: On the annual observance of "International Day of Persons with Disabilities", Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, Dec 3, saluted the indomitable spirit of all persons with disabilities. [In Pics: 10 extraordinary personalities with disabilities]

To express his concern for the disabled persons, PM Modi took to the micro-blogging site Twitter, where he tweeted:

On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I salute the indomitable spirit of all persons with disabilities. They are our heroes.

Since 1992, December 3 is annually observed as the "International Day of Persons with Disabilities", with an aim to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

The theme of this year's 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities' is 'Sustainable development: The promise of technology'.
