PM Narendra Modi In Srinagar Today: J&K Assembly Election Rally To Draw 30,000 Crowd
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an election rally in Srinagar on Thursday. This event is part of the BJP's campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. as the party aims to gain support for its candidates in the region.
Security Measures and Rally Details
The rally will be held at Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Srinagar, with an anticipated gathering of 30,000 BJP supporters and workers. Security has been intensified across Srinagar and Kashmir, with increased patrols and checkpoints to prevent any security breaches, according to police officials.

In the previous assembly elections of 2014, the BJP fielded more candidates than this time. Currently, they have candidates in 19 out of 47 constituencies in Kashmir. Despite this being less than one-third of the total seats, the party remains hopeful about its prospects.
Recent Electoral Developments
Following the revocation of Article 370, three BJP candidates emerged victorious in the District Development Council (DDC) elections from Srinagar, Pulwama, and Kupwara districts. This success has bolstered the party's confidence in improving its standing in the region.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Modi visited Doda in Jammu for a rally. It was notable as it marked a PM's visit to that area after 42 years. The upcoming rally in Srinagar will be his second during these assembly polls.
Voter Turnout Insights
Chief Electoral Officer P K Pole reported a voter turnout of approximately 59% during the first phase of assembly polls on Wednesday. This figure is described as "the highest in the past seven elections." However, these numbers might increase once final reports from postal ballots and remote areas like Marwah and Wadwan are received.
Over 2.3 million voters were eligible to vote for 219 candidates, including 90 Independents. Kishtwar district recorded the highest turnout at 77%, while Pulwama had the lowest at 46%. Other districts like Doda and Ramban saw turnouts of 69.33% and 67.71%, respectively.
The elections covered 24 seats across seven districts without any major incidents reported. There were minor scuffles or arguments at some polling stations but nothing that warranted a repolling process.
As preparations continue for Prime Minister Modi's rally, BJP remains focused on increasing its influence in Jammu and Kashmir through strategic campaigning efforts.
