Modi has done wonders in one year: Badal
Muktsar (Pb), May 25: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday hailed Narendra Modi-led NDA government's performance in the past one year, saying he has done "wonders" in a short span of time which the Congress "could never do even in two decades."
"Modi has done wonders in a short span of his tenure, which the Congress could never do even in two decades," he said here.

"The miracles done by the Prime Minister for transforming the destiny of the country and its people within a year could never be done by the Congress party even in more than 20 years," the CM said.
Congratulating the PM for the "successful completion" of one year in office, Badal said, "Under his visionary and dynamic leadership, the prestige and honour of the country has enhanced across the globe during last one year."
Today, India has emerged as a global superpower in the world due to which every Indian, including the NRI brethren, is feeling proud of themselves, Badal said.
Praising Modi-led government, the Punjab CM said that during last one year, the NDA government has launched several pro-poor schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, Prime Minister's Bima Suraksha, Atal Pension and Pradhan Mantri Jeewan Jyoti Bima Yojna for ensuring the welfare of the common man.
He said no government at the Centre has ever initiated such pro-people schemes in a short span of one year. "Modi really deserves kudos for developing the country during the first year of NDA's rule," Badal added.
The Chief Minister said the state government has designed a major plan to strengthen the irrigational network to facilitate people in the water-logged areas of the state.
The state government has released the amount of compensation meant for the farmers who have suffered huge losses due to the incessant rains in the region during last year, he said.
Earlier addressing the gatherings in village Aalamwala, Bodiwala, Midda, Raniwala, Mohlaan, Panniwala and others, the Chief Minister exhorted the public to play a proactive role in the development of the villages by personally supervising the ongoing development works in the state.
Badal said no government whether at the state or centre could ensure the development and prosperity of the country without the active support and cooperation of the general public.
Terming skill training as need of the hour, the Chief Minister said the state government was making all out efforts to set up state-of-the-art skill training centers in every nook and corner of the state so that people could be benefitted from it.
Badal said that skill training would not only open new avenues of employment for the youth but would also create a pool of skilled manpower to cope with the need of local industry.
