Additionally, this will also improve Ease of Living for the people of Delhi," he stated.
Delhi's Commitment to Clean Air
Officials reported that 200 electric buses were introduced on Thursday, increasing the total number of such vehicles with the Delhi Transport Corporation to 2,000. This expansion highlights the city's commitment to reducing air pollution through eco-friendly transportation solutions.
Delhi's Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena praised Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's government for its dedication to combating air pollution. Saxena noted on X that the new batch of e-buses, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, underscores Gupta's commitment to addressing air quality issues in the capital.
Efforts Beyond Electric Buses
Saxena also mentioned attending the "One Nation One Mission: End Plastic Pollution" program organised by GNCTD alongside Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav. This event further demonstrates the government's broader environmental initiatives.
He expressed satisfaction with GNCTD's comprehensive dust mitigation plan aimed at tackling air pollution in Delhi. These efforts reflect a multi-faceted approach to improving environmental conditions in the city.
The introduction of these electric buses marks a significant step towards sustainable urban transport in Delhi. By increasing the fleet size to 2,000, the city aims to reduce its carbon footprint and provide cleaner air for its residents.
