PM Modi's UAE Visit Highlights: IIT Delhi Campus in Abu Dhabi, Boosting Trade In Local Currencies
Prime Minister Modi arrived at Abu Dhabi airport, where he received a special welcome from Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This marked his fifth visit to the UAE, and he was greeted with a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour.
Expressing his excitement, PM Modi tweeted, "Landed in Abu Dhabi. I look forward to the deliberations with HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which will further deepen India-UAE cooperation." He also expressed gratitude to Crown Prince HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm reception at the airport.

During their meeting, Modi conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, considering him as a brother who has played a significant role in expanding the ties between India and the UAE. He stated, "The manner in which ties between our countries have expanded, you have made a big contribution to that. Every person in India views you as a true friend." Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the UAE President's leadership in preparing for COP-28, an upcoming climate conference, and confirmed his participation, showcasing his commitment to addressing global climate issues.
In another significant development, India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Education and Knowledge Department of Abu Dhabi to establish an IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi. The campus will commence Master's courses from January 2024 and Bachelor's courses from September the following year. Prime Minister Modi welcomed this decision, recognizing it as a major step towards internationalizing Indian education and showcasing India's innovation prowess. He emphasized the role of education in fostering unity, igniting innovation, and driving mutual prosperity and global betterment.
After the meeting, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his warm hospitality and admired his energy and vision for development. They discussed various aspects of India-UAE ties, with a focus on enhancing cultural and economic cooperation. PM Modi concluded by highlighting the collaborative efforts of both nations in addressing global challenges, stating, "Our nations are working together on so many issues aimed at making our planet better. I thank HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm hospitality."
