PM Modi's Special Rakhi Moment: Handmade Rakhi From Pakistani Sister Qamar Mohsin Sheikh

Qamar Mohsin Sheikh, famously known as Narendra Modi's Rakhi sister of Pakistani origin, is preparing to travel to New Delhi to personally tie a Rakhi on the Prime Minister's wrist during this year's Raksha Bandhan celebration. Sheikh has consistently sent a Rakhi to Modi for the past three decades.

"I've crafted the Rakhi myself this time. I intend to gift him (PM Modi) a book on agriculture, as he has a penchant for reading. Over the last few years, the ongoing pandemic hindered my visits, but this time, I'm determined to meet him in person," Sheikh, who relocated to India from Pakistan following her marriage, shared with the news agency ANI.

She said, "I've specially chosen a red Rakhi for him, as the color signifies strength. In the past, I prayed for him to become the chief minister of Gujarat, and he did. Every time I tied the Rakhi, I conveyed my wish for him to become the prime minister. He always responded positively, assuring me that all my desires would be fulfilled by God. Now, he is tirelessly working for the country as the PM."

During the preceding year, while extending her Raksha Bandhan greetings to the Prime Minister, she expressed her anticipation of meeting him this year. When discussing the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, she confidently stated, "There's no doubt; he will be the prime minister again. He rightfully deserves it due to his capabilities. I hope he remains the PM of India in every instance."

Raksha Bandhan is a festival where sisters tie Rakhi on their brothers' wrists and offer prayers for their prosperity and longevity. Contemporary practices have also seen sisters reciprocating the gesture. This celebration takes place on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Shravana, which generally falls in August.
